Old School versus High Tech Competition Cooking Class

Two champion competitors
Two unique cooking styles
Two completely different pits
Two days of instruction

ONE AWESOME EXPERIENCE

Johnny Trigg of Smokin’ Triggers, the only two time winner of the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Barbecue Invitational, and Rod Gray of Pellet Envy, the 2007 Kansas City Barbeque Society Pork Rib Category Team of the Year, are combining efforts to create a one of a kind competition cooking instructional event.  With over 100 championships between them, each will share every detail of their competitive cooking styles, including exact recipes used in competition.

  • Concentration on the four main KCBS categories – Chicken, Ribs, Pork & Brisket
  • Complete contest simulated using both pellet cookers and a traditional offset
  • Every detail of our award winning cooking programs discussed in depth
  • Both cooks will address meat quality, selection and trimming
  • Revealing techniques to allow the cook to achieve consistent results
  • Providing proven presentations to achieve the best possible scores

The class will begin promptly at 6:00 pm on the Friday of the event.  After an evening of intense instruction, we will recess at approximately 10:30 pm.  The class will begin again at 7:00 am sharp on Saturday and will conclude about 2:30 pm or when the absolute last question is answered.   Johnny and Rod will be cooking through-out the night, the details of which will be discussed in the Saturday morning session.  Attendees are welcome to stay onsite overnight or are encouraged to get a good nights rest for the Saturday session.

Cost for this class is $500 per person and $100 for spouses only.  Teammates and other relatives not eligible for the spouse rate.  Seating is limited to allow for complete class participation and is on a first come, first serve basis.  Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast will be provided.  Complete and return the application with payment to reserve your seat now.

"What they're saying about
the class"

"We have cooked 3 times since your class, got first place pork twice . . . You guys made more than a little difference.  I can't tell you how much better I am doing.  Turn in time used to be I was a wreck, not coordinated at all.  Watching you in real time made me see how it could be done.  But I guess the best thing is I am so excited to cook again.  I cut my schedule way back this year, and now I am ready to fill it back up!  "
Susan in Texas

"VERY WELL DONE!! As advertised, just the way they prepare, season, cook and present at a contest. (My wife) and I both gained a lot of information. You have my unconditional recommendation.  Since taking your class, our team scores have risen by 15%. An increase that means we now cash checks after a contest. Your class has given us a solid foundation upon which we continue to improve."
Jim in Kansas

"Your info was and is very, very valuable.  From a personal and selfish standpoint, I certainly wish there (weren’t any more) classes.  (Competitors) taking (future) classes scare me."
Robert in Arkansas

"I just want to thank you again for allowing me to attend your class.  Your incredible knowledge and experience, linked with insightful questions from the group made the weekend a fantastic experience.  I am amazed at how you have left no stones unturned in producing a superior product.  Thank you for a fantastic class."
